Bus Crash in Asia!!

Updated: Jun 30, 2019

It was 7 pm in a large city named Kunming in southeast china. We boarded the bus to a new town called Shangri-La, China. We were tired and had been preparing ourselves for the long thirteen hour bus ride we were about to embark on. When we arrive at the bus station there were hundreds of people taking the bus in Kunming so we had to wait for our bus for about an hour. (One thing to note about the bus was it was a double decker bus with bunk beds on the inside) While we were waiting for the bus to start boarding my good friend from the trip, Liam, and I decided to see if we could find anyone besides us that spoke English. It looks us a while but eventually we found a couple who were Filipino and Chinese, named Ian and Mar. We talked to the two of them for a while just before they called all of us for our bus. As it turned out Ian and Mar were on the same bus ride as us so the whole thing was well documented and I will put a link to their video at the bottom of this article. Twelve hours and twenty minutes into the car ride a couple of my friends and I woke up. One of my friends had a speedometer on his watch and it said we were driving at eighty miles per hour. We yelled to the bus driver to slow down, but unfortunately he didn't speak English. He continued to speed on the side of 1,000 foot cliffs and he would swerve over to the other side of the street whenever someone was going too slow in front of him. My friends and I could tell it was going to end badly but there's nothing you can do in that situation. The driver was speeding on the wrong side of the road when another car came speeding the other way. It was either drive off the cliff or swerve left and the driver swerved left, thank god. When he swerved left however he turned the steering wheel all the way to a 90 degree angle this was the moment that we realized the bus was going to flip. My eyes were wide open. I could see everything in that moment. There were people levitating off their beds, People flying through windows and hitting the ceiling, and in the end the bus flipped two times. Fortunately none of the victims of our bus crash were badly injured or killed which was a major blessing for everyone involved.
